About Corrib Medical Centre

Corrib Medical Centre has been serving the local community since 2013. We believe that providing a welcoming, patient-centric environment is central to the promotion of health and well‐being as well as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Caitriona Monaghan qualified with an honours medical degree from NUI Galway in 1998 and has worked as a female GP in Galway since 2003. Caitriona holds the Advanced Certificate in Family Planning and is qualified to insert and remove intrauterine coils as well as the contraceptive implant. She has special interest in Women’s Health and Family Planning and is a registered smear taker with the Cervical Screening programme. Caitriona has achieved further diplomas in Children’s health, Obstetrics and Women’s health, Medicine of the Elderly and successfully completed the STIF course in the diagnosis and management of STI’s. Caitriona has experience working with Youth Mental Health services with Jigsaw Galway and she obtained the Mental Health Certificate with the Irish College of General Practitioners. She has also furthered her studies in Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Susan Kennelly graduated from NUI Galway’s School of Medicine in 2003 and completed the Western Training Programme in General Practice in 2010. Since then she has been working as a Family Doctor in Galway City. She is a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners and holds diplomas in Child Health, Obstetrics and Women’s Health. Susan has a keen interest in Sports Medicine and was awarded a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Examination and Injury Management from the RSCI’s Faculty of Sports Medicine & ICGP in 2010. Susan has a certificate in Family Planning and is a registered smear taker with the Irish Cervical Screening Programme. Other special interests include Travel Medicine, Paediatrics, and Medical Education. Susan has worked as a clinical lecturer in NUI Galway’s School of Medicine since 2014.

Both Caitriona & Susan are compliant with their continuous professional development requirements and are registered with the Medical Council of Ireland in the specialist division of General Practice.
